Targeted Therapies and immunotherapy Treatments with Cetuximab Boost Quality of Life for Colorectal Cancer Patients

A study compared various treatments for metastatic colorectal cancer's impact on Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQoL). Immunotherapy and targeted therapy notably improved HRQoL over chemotherapy. Monotherapy, particularly cetuximab, outperformed combination therapy and no active treatment. Combining targeted therapy with chemotherapy didn't enhance HRQoL. Cetuximab showed superiority when gene expression baselines were unspecified. Sensitivity analyses supported these findings. Tailoring treatments to individual gene expression profiles needs further evidence. Overall, targeted therapies and immunotherapy offer better HRQoL benefits, with monotherapy like cetuximab showing promise.
