Tau-Driven Angiogenesis Linked to Alzheimer’s Damage

This study examined factors driving abnormal angiogenesis in Alzheimer's disease (AD). Analysis of post-mortem brains revealed blood-brain barrier damage and elevated CD31 levels, correlating with tau pathology over Aβ. In cerebrospinal fluid, pTau181 was linked to angiogenic markers (sVEGFR2, VEGF-C/D, PLGF, Angiopoietin2, Serpin E1). Markers like sVEGFR1, sTIE2, PLGF, and IL8 were associated with worsened cerebrovascular and neurodegenerative outcomes, implicating tau-driven angiogenesis in AD.
