Terizidone Shows Strong Brain Penetration in Drug-Resistant TB Patients

A human study in Cape Town found that terizidone, converted to cycloserine, penetrates the cerebrospinal fluid effectively—about 69% of plasma levels—while clofazimine shows poor brain entry. Conducted in 27 adults with drug-resistant TB, the findings highlight terizidone’s potential in treating tuberculous meningitis and improving CNS-targeted TB therapy.
