Test–retest repeatability of organ uptake on PSMA‐targeted 18F‐DCFPyL PET/CT in patients with prostate cancer

In a clinical trial involving 22 prostate cancer patients, the test-retest repeatability of 18F-DCFPyL PET scans was evaluated for uptake in normal organs. The study aimed to assess the consistency of uptake measurements within the same individual. The quantification of uptake in organs such as the kidneys, spleen, liver, and salivary and lacrimal glands was performed in both PET scans. Repeatability was measured using the within-subject coefficient of variation (wCOV), with lower values indicating better repeatability. The results showed high repeatability for SUVmean (a measure of uptake) in the kidneys, spleen, liver, and parotid glands, while lower repeatability was observed in the lacrimal and submandibular glands. For SUVmax (maximum uptake), the lacrimal and submandibular glands achieved higher repeatability, while large organs had lower repeatability. The study suggests that the uptake measurements in normal organs using 18F-DCFPyL PET are generally consistent, which is important for patient selection and standardized interpretation in PSMA-targeted imaging and treatment.
