A study conducted at a university-affiliated medical center aimed to identify factors contributing to prolonged cesarean delivery (CD) surgery times. The research analyzed 31,660 CD cases, with 4.4% lasting over 90 minutes. Results revealed that abnormal placentation, previous uterine scar, general anesthesia, and preterm delivery were linked to extended surgical durations. Conversely, CD for malpresentation, multiple gestations, and patient requests showed shorter times. The study underscores the importance of understanding these risk factors to optimize CD procedures and improve maternal and neonatal outcomes.
