The study aimed to examine the relationship between normal glucose challenge test (GCT) results during pregnancy and the incidence of maternal metabolic morbidities in the future. The population-based retrospective cohort study included all women aged 17-55 who underwent GCT as part of routine prenatal care at Clalit Health Services, Israel, between 2005 and 2020. The study found that high-normal GCT results of 120-129 and 130-139 mg/dL were significantly associated with increased risk for future metabolic morbidity compared to GCT results below 120 mg/dL. The findings suggest that even within the normal range, high GCT results may indicate increased maternal risk for future metabolic morbidity.
