The study assessed BMI's impact on nephrectomy outcomes in renal cell carcinoma patients. 18 studies with 13,865 patients were analyzed. Higher BMI predicted better overall survival, cancer-specific survival, and recurrence-free survival rates. However, those with lower BMI had slightly better surgical outcomes like operation time and warm ischemic time. Length of hospital stay, complications, blood transfusion, and conversion rates showed no significant differences. The study indicates that higher BMI may be linked to improved long-term oncological survival, while perioperative outcomes are similar to lower BMI.
