A study discovered a crucial factor in the recovery of knee biomechanics after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR). It involved 39 Division I collegiate athletes. The study's main findings indicate that an increase in RTDLSI (rate of torque development limb symmetry index) leads to reduced peak knee flexion difference (PKFDIFF) and increased peak knee extensor moment limb symmetry index (PKEMLSI) during running. On the other hand, PTLSI (peak torque limb symmetry index) showed no significant effect. These insights suggest that focusing on quadriceps RTD may be more effective in improving knee biomechanics during running after ACLR, providing athletes with better long-term outcomes. This study sheds light on the importance of targeted rehabilitation strategies for athletes recovering from ACL injuries.
