It covers insulin transport into the brain and its physiological effects, highlighting the concept of brain insulin resistance. This condition is linked to impaired metabolic responses post-meal, increased adiposity, and unfavorable fat distribution, contributing to obesity and (pre)diabetes. Emerging evidence suggests brain insulin resistance is treatable, offering potential for improving metabolism and cognitive functions. Future research should focus on developing diagnostic tools and therapies for brain insulin resistance.
