The Long‐Term Implications of Rhinitis and Chronic Rhinosinusitis in Young Adults

The study aimed to investigate the long-term impact of rhinitis and chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) on general health and medical services utilization in young adults. The case-control study included 617 patients with rhinitis, 296 patients with CRS, and 2739 healthy controls with an average age of 28 years. The study found that patients with rhinitis and CRS were more likely to develop asthma and experience a significant loss of productivity and increased medical system utilization compared to healthy controls. Additionally, a third of patients experienced a deterioration in general health and physical fitness. The study highlights the need for improved disease control and management of patients with rhinitis and CRS to prevent associated negative outcomes.
