The nonabsorbable membrane technique leads to successful alveolar ridge preservation

The study evaluated the use of a partially exposed non-absorbable membrane in alveolar ridge preservation (ARP) procedures on various outcomes. Patients were randomized into two groups: dPTFE (tooth extraction followed by ARP using a partially exposed dPTFE membrane) and USH (unassisted socket healing). Results showed that dPTFE was superior to USH in increasing Keratinized Mucosa Width (KMW) gain, but there were no differences between groups in tomographic measures, immunoenzymatic analysis, and implant stability. The study was not registered prior to participant recruitment and randomization.
