The relationship of peri‐implant soft tissue wound healing with implant cover screw design

A recent study examined dental implant closure screws from various companies to evaluate their impact on inflammatory response, epithelial maturation, and tissue interaction during healing. The study analyzed 52 implants from five different manufacturers and found significant differences in inflammation and epithelial maturation. While subepithelial inflammation remained consistent, CD-68 and Syndecan-1 levels varied in lamina propria. The study highlights the importance of closure screw design in the wound healing process. Further research is needed to explore the connection between initial neck resorption and closure screws, including radiographic and microbiological examinations.
