The role of cartilaginous to osseous acetabular angle ratio in children with developmental dysplasia of the hip

A study explores the cartilaginous to osseous acetabular angle ratio (AAR) for surgical decision-making in hip dysplasia. Data from MRI scans and X-rays of patients with developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) collected between 2019-2022 were analyzed. Patients with residual hip dysplasia (RHD) had significantly higher AAR compared to controls. Those with AAR >5 were more likely to undergo surgery, while AAR ≤5 correlated with non-surgical treatment. Postoperative outcomes were positive in most cases. The study suggests AAR as a potential indicator for surgical intervention in RHD, aiding in treatment decisions for hip dysplasia
