A study involving 286 basketball players has shed light on the factors influencing using mouthguards (UoM). Despite the sport's high injury rate, only 30.1% of players reported using mouthguards. The study found that age, basketball experience, and weekly practice hours significantly impacted mouthguard use. Factors like awareness, injury history, social support, and oral health professional (OHP) assistance were also linked to UoM. A model explaining 27% of the relationship between these factors and mouthguard use was proposed.
