A recent study reports the validation and utility of the Delirium Rating Scale R98 (DRS-R98) in assessing delirium severity in critical care settings. Delirium is a common neuropsychiatric syndrome in critically ill patients, and its severity can impact clinical outcomes. The study involved 22 adult patients with delirium, with promising results for the DRS-R98. The DRS-R98 demonstrated good construct validity, excellent internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha of 0.896 for the severity scale and 0.886 for the total scale), and moderate inter-rater reliability. These findings highlight the potential of the DRS-R98 as a valuable tool for assessing delirium severity in critical care.
