The value of indocyanine green-FLOW800 in microvasculature for predicting cerebral hyperperfusion syndrome in moyamoya disease patients

A recent study has delved into the complications of direct hemodynamic reconstruction in patients with moyamoya disease (MMD), focusing on cerebral hyperperfusion syndrome (CHS). The study employed indocyanine green (ICG)-FLOW800 video angiography to assess hemodynamic alterations in small regional microvasculature (SRMV) surrounding the anastomosis site. The study analyzed 31 patients with MMD who underwent superficial temporal artery-middle cerebral artery (MCA) bypass grafting. Results indicated that changes in cerebral blood volume (ΔCBV) and cerebral blood flow (ΔCBF) were significantly more pronounced in SRMV than in MCA, particularly in patients who developed CHS after surgery. These findings underscore the potential of ICG-FLOW800 video angiography in monitoring hemodynamic changes in MMD patients pre- and post-bypass surgery.
