A study aimed to compare the effects of vericiguat versus placebo on left ventricular structure and function after 8 months of therapy in patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). The study found that both measures of interest left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and left ventricular end-systolic volume index (LVESVI), improved over 8 months with no significant difference between the vericiguat and placebo groups. However, worsening LVESVI at 8 months was associated with poorer clinical outcomes. The study concludes that further research is needed to define the mechanisms of vericiguat's benefit in HFrEF.
