Recent studies have highlighted the potential of time in tight range (TITR) as an advanced metric for evaluating glycemic control, complementing the established time in range (TIR) from continuous glucose monitoring (CGM). Defined as the percentage of time spent within a glucose range of 3.9–7.8 mmol/L, TITR may provide more precise insights than TIR, especially when glucose levels are close to normal or for patients requiring stringent control. The metric's adoption has been facilitated by new technologies, such as hybrid closed-loop insulin systems and novel hypoglycemic drugs, which improve the capacity for optimized glycemic management. This review provides a comprehensive summary of studies related to TITR, underscoring its emerging role in diabetes care.
