TORS for Chronic Lingual Tonsillitis: Swallowing and Quality of Life

The study evaluated transoral robotic surgery (TORS) for chronic lingual tonsillitis (CLT), assessing patient outcomes like swallowing improvement and quality of life. Thirty-three patients were monitored for 12 months, showing significant reductions in tonsillitis scores (mean 7.8 to 1.65, p<0.001) and improved swallowing experience. Most patients (69.7%) achieved LT Friedman grade 0, and only two experienced postoperative bleeding. TORS was found to be effective and safe in treating CLT.
