Transmission and Risk Factors of COVID-19 among Health Care Workers

This review examined the occupational risk factors associated with severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) transmission in healthcare workers (HCWs) during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. The researchers searched for relevant observational studies and identified job category, work environment, noncompliance with personal protective equipment (PPE), lack of PPE awareness and training, unvaccinated status, and competing community and household exposures as risk factors for SARS-CoV-2 transmission among HCWs. The review highlights the need for effective measures to protect HCWs from SARS-CoV-2 and the importance of identifying and understanding COVID-19 risk factors among HCWs as a public health priority.
