The study analyzed the clinical outcomes of 46 patients with severe pancreatitis and complications such as walled-off necrosis (WON) and pancreatic pseudocyst (PPC). Results showed that 27 patients developed WON and 19 had PPC. The majority (48%) had alcoholic pancreatitis, with 78% receiving antibiotics. WON patients typically had longer hospital stays (over 21 days). Elevated lactate dehydrogenase, lipase, C-reactive protein, and leucocyte levels were linked to a higher likelihood of developing WON. The study found that invasive treatments were not necessary in all cases, and the mortality rate was low at 7%. Significant differences in aetiology and treatment outcomes were observed between WON and PPC patients.
