Emerging evidence suggests mindfulness as a potential therapy for PTSD. Subthreshold PTSD causes impairment despite not meeting diagnostic criteria. Mindfulness targets memory processing, hyperarousal, avoidance, and thought suppression. A trial compares MBCT to Seeking Safety to alleviate symptoms in 160 participants. Assessments at baseline, post-intervention, and 3 months post-intervention include PTSD symptoms, depression, anxiety, attention, experimental avoidance, rumination, mindfulness, and coping skills. Findings may enhance PTSD intervention guidelines.
