The retrospective study of 476 children with unilateral SNHL found that congenital cases had worse hearing at diagnosis and a greater risk of progression (p = 0.0040). Initial PTA averaged 53.8 dB in affected ears. MRI detected abnormalities in 39.6% of cases, with cochlear nerve issues most common and linked to worse outcomes (p < 0.0001), proving MRI's diagnostic value.
