Unraveling Sex Differences in Layered Plaque in Chronic Coronary Syndromes

Studies have highlighted significant sex differences in acute and chronic coronary syndromes. Recent invasive imaging research suggested disparities in atherosclerotic plaque features. While some studies found fewer plaques and ruptures in women, others showed conflicting results. A new study in Circulation: Cardiovascular Imaging examined 533 patients with chronic coronary syndromes, using optical coherence tomography (OCT) before intervention.
