A study examined long-term outcomes after heart failure (HF) hospitalization, highlighting sex disparities across ejection fraction (EF) categories. Over a 5-year follow-up, females had lower adjusted mortality but suffered more survival loss than the median age- and sex-matched U.S. population. Females also faced higher HF rehospitalization risks, particularly in the HFpEF subtype. The study, analyzing 155,670 patients from AHA's GWTG-HF registry, underscores the need for gender-specific HF management strategies.
