Urinary Biomarkers for Predicting Lupus Nephritis Histologic Severity

Urinary Biomarkers for Predicting Lupus Nephritis Histologic Severity

Urinary biomarkers, including calgranulin B (S100A9), MCP-1, and IGFBP-5, can predict the presence and severity of histologic findings in lupus nephritis (LN). This study analyzed urine samples from patients with active LN and identified five histologic subgroups. The urinary biomarkers correlated with specific histologic lesions, such as glomerular lesions and interstitial fibrosis, making them valuable for predicting LN severity. Further validation showed these biomarkers' predictive potential.
