A recent study highlights the potential of 3D stereophotogrammetry as a noninvasive tool for detecting disease progression in craniofacial morphea. Craniofacial morphea, an autoimmune disorder, poses challenges for tracking disease progression due to the absence of clear clinical signs. The study involving 27 patients revealed that 3D stereophotogrammetry assessments aligned with clinical assessments at 2- to 12-month intervals, confirming progression. In some cases, 3D stereophotogrammetry even detected subtle asymmetry progression not discernible through clinical examination. The findings suggest that 3D stereophotogrammetry can complement clinical evaluation in monitoring craniofacial morphea patients over time.
