A study investigated the potential of uterine artery (UtA) Doppler measurements to predict adverse perinatal outcomes in uncomplicated term pregnancies. Researchers recorded the mean UtA pulsatility index (PI) during early labor and found a significant association between increased UtA-PI and obstetric interventions for suspected intrapartum fetal compromise. Elevated UtA-PI also correlated with low birth weight, NICU admissions, and composite adverse perinatal outcomes.
