
The systematic review and meta-analysis of 38 studies involving over 7 million participants found that prior non-cesarean uterine surgeries significantly increased the risk of placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) in subsequent pregnancies (pooled OR 2.29). Specific surgeries, including myomectomy, uterine artery embolization, and endometrial ablation, showed even higher risks (up to OR 43.16).
