Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) patients' posttreatment follow‐up adherence to guidelines was investigated at an academic medical center. Out of 452 patients, only 23.5% adhered in the first year, and 15.9% maintained adherence for 5 years. First-year adherence was linked to better 5-year overall and disease‐specific survival (HR 0.634 and 0.556, respectively). Among those with recurrence (21.7%), early-stage recurrence wasn't linked to adherence.
