Vancomycin Toxicity Risk Higher in Patients with Liver Disease

A study analyzing vancomycin use in patients with chronic liver disease found higher trough levels and mortality rates in those with moderate-to-severe liver disease (MSLD) compared to mild cases. Increased vancomycin levels and reduced kidney function were key predictors of acute kidney injury (AKI) and mortality. The findings highlight the need for cautious dosing and monitoring in this population.
