Vascular‐ and nerve‐sparing bowel resection for deep endometriosis: A retrospective single‐center study

The present study aimed to assess the outcomes of a nerve- and vascular-sparing technique for surgical treatment of deep endometriosis involving bowel resection. A retrospective study of 61 patients who underwent this approach was conducted. Complication rates were low (no major complications), and postoperative gastrointestinal function improved significantly. However, temporary bladder issues occurred in 8.2% of patients. Sexual function appeared to worsen slightly after surgery. The study suggests that the nerve- and vascular-sparing technique is promising for deep endometriosis resection, with favorable outcomes in terms of complications and bowel function improvement, but with a potential impact on sexual function.
