In a cross-sectional study investigating Optos imaging's diagnostic sensitivity for vision-degrading myodesopsia (VDM), 420 eyes from 345 patients with VDM were analyzed. The study found that while vitreous floaters were visible on ultrasound B scans in all eyes, they were detected in only 47.62% of Optos images, with visibility differing significantly between eyes with and without posterior vitreous detachment (PVD). Factors such as age, spherical equivalent, and the distance of the floaters from the retina were found to be significantly associated with the visibility of vitreous floaters on Optos images. Additionally, the study revealed that 25.71% of VDM eyes presented additional retinal abnormalities on Optos images.
