Visual Acuity Screening at 45 Months More Efficient Than at 36 Months for Detecting Amblyopia

A Dutch cohort study of over 10,000 children found visual acuity screening at 45 months (VAM) to be more efficient than at 36 months for detecting amblyopia. The 45-month screening had lower non-cooperation rates and required fewer tests per case detected, highlighting improved reliability and efficiency at the later screening age.
