Takeda, a global pharmaceutical company, has unveiled recommendations from the World Health Organization's Strategic Advisory Group of Experts (SAGE) regarding the use of QDENGA® (Dengue Tetravalent Vaccine) in combating dengue fever. SAGE suggests introducing the vaccine in regions with high dengue prevalence and in children aged 6 to 16, administered in a two-dose schedule. Based on data from 19 clinical trials involving over 28,000 participants, including the pivotal Phase 3 TIDES trial, the vaccine's effectiveness was proven to be substantial, with a significant reduction in hospitalization due to dengue fever. The WHO will provide further guidance on its public vaccination program implementation in the coming months.
