During stem-cell transplantation therapy, DEFITELIO is vital for treating severe hepatic veno-occlusive disease (VOD). However, the authentic manufacturer confirmed the counterfeit product and clarified that DEFITELIO lacks marketing authorization in India and Turkey. They also provided guidelines for identifying fake medication. The genuine DEFITELIO (Lot 20G20A) comes in German/Austrian packaging, while the fake version is in UK/Ireland packaging. The stated expiry date on the counterfeit does not match the registered shelf life, and the serial number is unrelated to batch 20G20A. Medical professionals are strongly advised not to use counterfeit drugs and to promptly seek medical advice if patients have used it or experienced adverse reactions.
