The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced that COVID-19 is no longer a public health emergency of international concern (PHEIC), based on a recommendation from its COVID-19 emergency committee, due to decreasing deaths and hospitalizations, and high population immunity. However, WHO emphasized that the pandemic remains a global health threat. The PHEIC status previously compelled countries to report cases to the WHO for worldwide surveillance. Epidemiologists suggest that while the decision was pragmatic, it may impact resources for diagnostic tests, vaccinations, and treatments and that individual countries will need to decide when to end their own public health emergencies.

The model could refine diagnosis and help redefine the biological limits of vital pulp therapy.

Varenicline increased tear production but needs further comparative validation.
