WHO Warns of Rising Resistance to HIV Drug Dolutegravir

The World Health Organisation (WHO) reported elevated resistance levels to GSK's HIV drug, dolutegravir, surpassing trial rates. Resistance ranged from 3.9% to 8.6%, reaching 19.6% in those transitioning to dolutegravir-containing antiretroviral therapy (ART). The WHO emphasized routine surveillance to understand resistance patterns. GSK supported further surveillance. The findings underscore the importance of monitoring HIV drug resistance globally.
