The study assessed the safety and effectiveness of autoantigen-specific immunotherapy using intralymphatic injections of GAD-alum in individuals with latent autoimmune diabetes in adults (LADA). Fourteen participants received three injections of GAD-alum, resulting in minor and temporary adverse effects. The treatment increased GADA levels, influenced immune responses, and maintained beta-cell function, particularly in those with HLA-DR3DQ2 haplotypes.
