Most measures showed no significant difference between treatments, suggesting either equivalency or underpowered studies. Only two ingredients appeared in more than two studies, carboxymethyl cellulose, which is equivalent to HA treatment, and Diquafosol, which appears superior. The article highlights the need for well-designed studies to determine an evidence-based standard for HA treatment as a comparator.
