The study aimed to estimate the effect of different frequencies of breakfast and post-dinner snack consumption on body weight and composition changes over 18 months after a successful 6-month behavioral weight-loss program. The analysis of data from the IDEA study found that consuming breakfast 5-7 times per week and having post-dinner snacks 0-2 times per week may result in a modest reduction in weight and body fat regain compared to consuming breakfast 0-4 times per week and having post-dinner snacks 3-7 times per week. These findings suggest that regular breakfast consumption and minimizing post-dinner snacking may help in weight management over the longer-term period.
