A pilot randomized controlled trial was conducted to test the efficacy of PEF feedback and motivational interviewing in improving the perception of airway obstruction, PEF values, self-reported asthma control, and medication adherence in older adults. The results showed that PEF feedback with a single intervention session decreased under perception and increased lung function. Although improvement in asthma control was not statistically significant, this intervention may provide new mechanisms to improve the outcomes of older patients with asthma.
