A study introduced an innovative approach to combat dental caries. Dental caries, a dynamic disease, has been a challenge to tackle. However, a groundbreaking concept called "interrupting dental caries (IDC)" has emerged. It involves a dual-functional coating with remineralizing and antibacterial properties. The study successfully developed a BSA-OCT composite that can be applied to teeth, resin composite, or sealant surfaces in just 30 minutes. This PTB-OCT coating demonstrated remarkable effects in promoting enamel and dentin remineralization, resisting acid, and preventing biofilm formation. Moreover, it showed promise in reducing microleakage and preventing primary and secondary caries.
