In a recent study, 213 participants aged 50 to 75 underwent a diet order crossover to assess the impact of dietary sodium on blood pressure. Regardless of hypertension status or medication use, reducing dietary sodium lowered BP in most individuals. A 5 mm Hg or greater decline in mean arterial pressure was observed in 73.4% of participants on low-sodium diets. Results showed a consistent decline in BP across various subgroups without excess adverse events. The comprehensive analysis sheds light on the efficacy and safety of dietary sodium reduction.
