
A comprehensive review of 35 studies encompassing 102 cases of fetal adrenal hemorrhage (FAH), has shed light on its prenatal and postnatal imaging characteristics. Ultrasound commonly portrayed FAH as cystic (31%), anechoic (28%), or mixed echogenic (16%). Most cases resolved prenatally (9%) or postnatally (35%), while 34% regressed in size after birth. Importantly, 25% underwent surgical intervention, initially suspecting neuroblastoma, but only 6% confirmed this diagnosis on pathology. These findings emphasize the complexity of FAH diagnosis and advocate for cautious clinical management, avoiding unnecessary surgeries.
