This study evaluated the accuracy of automatic robotic implant site preparation for different implant sizes and compared it to human freehand drilling. The robotic procedure was performed on partially edentulous models using three different implant sizes. Deviations in implant position from the planned position were measured. The results showed that the robotic system had a deviation of 3.78° in angulation, 0.58 mm at the entry point, and 0.99 mm at the apical point. The largest deviation was observed for 5 mm implants. Comparisons between robotic and human surgery showed similar performance, except for the angulation of 5 mm implants. Overall, robotic drilling demonstrated accuracy and reliability, particularly for small implant diameters, and could be comparable to human drilling for anterior implant surgery.
