Acumen Pharmaceuticals announced that its experimental drug, AC1193, designed to target a novel form of the toxic protein beta-amyloid in the brain, has passed an initial safety test and will proceed to a larger trial. The drug demonstrated good tolerance in the first trial. AC1193 aims to bind to amyloid beta oligimers. AC1193 showed promise in reducing amyloid plaque and displayed potential efficacy. However, some participants experienced side effects such as brain swelling and bleeding.
