A study with over 350 pregnant women found that acupuncture and doxylamine-pyridoxine were effective in relieving moderate to severe pregnancy-related nausea and vomiting. The use of both treatments together provided even better relief. Severe nausea and vomiting, known as hyperemesis gravidarum, affects 10% of pregnancies and can lead to termination. Limited research on alternative treatments exists due to small sample sizes and poor study quality. The findings were published in the Annals of Internal Medicine.
