
The study investigated the acute effects of caffeinated coffee on cardiac ectopy and arrhythmias, daily step counts, sleep minutes, and serum glucose levels. Participants were instructed to consume caffeinated coffee or avoid caffeine for 14 days, and the primary outcome was the mean number of daily premature atrial contractions. Results showed that consuming caffeinated coffee was not associated with significantly more daily premature atrial contractions than avoiding caffeine. However, the consumption of caffeinated coffee was associated with more daily premature ventricular contractions, more daily steps, less nightly sleep, and similar serum glucose levels compared to no caffeine consumption.
