This study evaluates the diagnostic accuracy of the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) criteria against liver biopsy for alcohol-associated hepatitis (AH). The research introduces NIAAAm-CRP criteria, incorporating C-reactive protein, to enhance noninvasive AH diagnosis. Results show that while NIAAA criteria are suboptimal, NIAAAm-CRP exhibits improved sensitivity (70%) and accuracy (78%) in diagnosing AH in alcohol-related liver disease patients.
